Alaska Fishing Trips: Chuitna River
The Chuitna River is probably our favorite place to fish. This pristine, clear water river wraps through the wilderness near the Alaskan Native village of Tyonek and boasts an awesome run of kings, pinks, silvers, and native rainbow trout. We fish this river for silvers only, however by-catch of multiple other species is not uncommon. This trip requires some hiking in and around the river. Clients must be fit. Chest waders are a must and expect to cross the river multiple times to access all of the good fishing holes. The catching can be explosive with sight fishing being the norm. Arial leaps, searing runs, and perfect flyfishing water, makes this spot an all time favorite. We often fish without the pressures from as many anglers when compared to other locations. To gain this access, we employ Tyonek residents to move us around the tribal lands with suburbans and pickups. Expect quite an adventure on this trip!!
