Unguided Moose Hunting in Alaska
Unguided moose hunting in Alaska can be one of the greatest experiences in all of North America. They are truly impressive animals, gigantic in size and stature. The state of Alaska allows for non-residents to hunt moose and black bear without a guide. Adventure Outfitters Alaska offers the most affordable moose hunting trips possible! We have an excellent success rate and can accommodate large groups. There is a 2 person minimum on these hunts. This hunt is "turn-key", meaning we provide transportation to and from your hunting location, a full camp, complete meal package, and Iridium satellite phone. Let us help you plan and execute the DIY moose hunt of a lifetime.
Unit 16
This is a great DIY Alaskan hunt. Unit 16 is a vast region filled with countless river systems teaming with big moose. Black bear and wolf are also abundant and can make for an excellent combo hunt. The terrain is very diverse and can offer hunters everything from huge swamp bulls to high country bruisers at treeline. This country is very remote and accessible only by plane.

Unit 17B And 9B
This is ultimate moose country and boasts our highest success rate on trophies taken. Because of the mountain pass and flight distance, plan on at least 10 days in the field. This area is legendary for trophy moose. The chance at multiple species includes wolf, wolverine, and black bear. This location is the most remote place we hunt.

"AOA built us an incredible camp. Everything we needed was included, the price was very affordable, and the communication was stellar. We saw 4 bull moose and brought home a 62 inch monster! Unit 17B is incredible. Other camps in this unit also shot really nice moose"

"Even though we did not shoot a moose, the hunt was a great adventure and both me and my partner consider it a successful trip. We saw 3 bulls, one was maybe 50" but he had only 2 brow tines. Unsure of his rack, we let him walk. The other was a fork horn so we passed on him too. The other was too far to tell and we only saw him once. We saw multiple brown bears and one black bear but only for a second or two. The terrain was swampy and walking wasn't easy, but moose sign was everywhere. Jake provided a great camp that was dry and warm. We will be returning soon to give it another shot!"

"This hunt is the perfect option for those who have the woodsmanship and hunting knowledge required. Although AOA gets you ready for the hunt and provides all that you need, they do not set anything up for you. This is the quintessential DIY hunt. We successfully harvested both a nice moose and black bear. The moose was 45 inches with 3 brow tines and the bear squared about 6'0". "

"We saw several moose from the air on the way to camp within 2 miles of landing. We saw 2 bulls from camp but could not make a kill, both appeared legal. We passed on a big black bear at 300 yards. The camp was excellent, food was amazing, and Jake communicated all that we needed. His information was spot on and both my partner and I had the proper expectations for the hunt. I highly recommend AOA."
